Hi guys,

I'm having a light leak in my Leica M6 and I would like to hear your opinions.
The problem is that I'm leaving on a trip soon, so don't have the time to wait for a camera repair. A temporary solution with tape would be good enough for a while, but therefore I need to locate the leak.
The leak is vertical and is only visible when there is a long time in between frames on a bright sunny day. After reading some threads, i thought it may be a shutter problem, but had a test roll where I tried all the shutter speeds and didn't have the problem. also the leak comes a bit out of the frame.
Shot a test roll in color and put the camera in the sun for a couple of hours to see if the leak would be white (coming from the front) or yellow/orange/... (coming from the back?). Turns out blue… Any idea?
Leak is less strong visible because it was color iso 200 film. Normally I shoot tmax 400 at 1600, so way more visible.

Thanks in advance!

It's blue on color film, so it comes propably from the front.
Since the picture is mirrored on the film, the leak is at the 1/4 of the film gate from right (when looking from behind, where the curtains are starting their travel.

It's not leaking under or over the curtains (damaged felt traps) as the leak would be horizontal and not vertical.
It's no shutter bounce because of the curtain brake (the leak would be on the right side of the picture).

It looks to me as if one of the curtains would drag for a brief moment... but you mentioned that you tried all shutter speeds and the leak came when you just left the camera sitting idle? So you don't need to expose a shot to get the leak?
Was the shutter wound or not when you tried to get the leak?

Thanks for the response.
No I didn't need to expose to get the leak. I shot some blanks before and after.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the shutter was wound, yes.
