hi,
On my leica m6 when focusing to infinity with my 50mm summicron rigid i can't match the patch with the image, i always stay short. I thought it could be a missaligned rf, but when use the jupiter 12 every thing is aligned. it is norma? what distance is considered to be inifinity for the summicron 50mm rigid? the moon?
it is a out of alignment rf ? shoul i align to the summicron and forget the jupiter 12 alignment or could be a lens problem?
Regards,
avelino

I had a similar problem except at the close end. A RF adjustment by the local tech was required. I think the cam itself was loose. All lenses work ok now. I think the tolerance on the summicron might have been tighter.
I recommend an adjustment.

There are a couple of possibilities:
* your Summicron needs adjustment, body and J12 are OK
* body is off spec but matches J12 that's off Leica spec by a similar amount

Have you had the lens for a long time, or is it new to you? A previous owner might have had it worked on, and the helicoid might have been reassembled wrong. That will throw it seriously off!

Hi, my advice...adjust infinity with the summicron then perfomr some simple accuracy tests. You´ll know right away
Whats the difference tween the two lenses? 1/15th of the rf patch or 3/4th?
The j12 can live with some difference but not the cron.

How can i adjust the infinity focus in that focusing arm in the Lens chamber of the body?

For me, my other lenses were fine, and my 50 cron (that didn't work on my body) worked on others perfectly.
To see whats happening, it can be useful to open the back door and look at how the cam moves.
I started a thread on LUF that might be of help:

What distance should i consider as infinity for the 50mm f2 summicron rigid, to tune the patch?

I have adjusted the infinity focus in the focus arm for the summicron.
I have a black jupiter 8 that at infinity moves the arm to much that it passes the infinity. I can use sandpaper to remove a little bit of the lens focus rear tube to prevent not moving the arm to much? the lens is focusing correctly.
