leica M7, where goes diopter correction lens

Hi

Do i need to screw standard out and replace it with diopter correction lens? Or diopter correction lens goes over old one?

I ask because to find out how much the viewfinder sticks out from the camera back surface.

Diopter goes into eye-piece of the camera, which has a fine thread. Same for the magnifiers.

As Gabor mentioned, nothing is removed. Just thread it right on the existing eye-piece. I mainly posted to suggest giving it a little "twist check" before each shooting session to ensure that it is tight. They have a tendency to loosen and sometimes disappear -all by themselves!
