Hi,

Recently acquired some Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses for my M9 and I have a question about 6-bit coding.

This is my understanding: 6-bit coding affects the EXIF data and only when shooting JPG it impacts in-camera processing.

In other words, if you are shooting in DNG, it doesn't affect the files coming out of the camera, and if you want, you can use the lens profiles in LR. The only thing affected is the EXIF data.

Is this correct ?

BTW, i have played around with a codeing set with markers etc on the lens mount, but it is not a satisfactory solution. Before spending $$ looking into getting new lens mounts with indents etc.

Thanks, and aplogies if covered somewhere before

Almost correct. However, coding also will cause the reduction of vignetting and colour cast in the corners (when using certain wide angle lenses) on the DNG files.

So be careful with your codes.

Efix's advice beyond EXIF is correct. My 21 f4.5 and my 18 f4 work best from the purple fringing point of view if coded as the 21 2.8 pre-ASPH. Even something as long as the 50 C Sonnar vignettes just a little if not coded as a Summilux of some sort. It is so subtle as not to be noticeable except with acres of plain white background.

Thanks.
Now, where do i get a lens flange with indentations for my voigts and zeisses ? Seen leica onex on ebay, but not for the zeisses and voigts.
Any suggestions ?
