For comparison / analogy / clarification:
100 ms = 1/10 s = 0.1 s
Now, look at some recent track and field games, summer olympics, winter olympics, etc and note that a lot of races and events are are won by a few milliseconds, on the order of 5 to 10 milliseconds. On the slow motion and the freeze images of the finish line, 10ms is a visually noticeable difference, and 100ms is obvious.
Some people may or may not notice the difference, and to others it may be irrelevant (in their photography), and still others may have adapted. However, this does not change the fact that there is a measurable shutter lag and this is different amongst different cameras.

I have to question the F6 time. On mine, I'm pretty sure it fires BEFORE I hit the release. I have no idea how many frames I've wasted because of that hair-trigger!

I just love the way you can resurrect a two year old (or older) thread on this form and have it continue without missing a beat.

Indeed!
Anyone know what the lag is for the M9?
Is it different for Continuous, Regular Single Shot or Discreet mode?
Is the M4 any faster than the M3?

.80ms shutter lag? Let's get real! That is near instantaneous in anyone's real world.
