Leica M8 at the New York City Marathon

Hello,
Well, I'm not a sports photographer and I wouldn't call the M8 a sports photographer's camera, but here are my shots from today's marathon:

We know a couple of people who run the race so we always go out to cheer for them. Sorry, I didn't get any shots of the winners but I got a bunch of shots of Lance.

I got a couple of weird, totally overexposed, blown shots, but I kind of like the effect! 🙂

All of these were taken with the 50mm 1.4 ASPH. It is hard to photograph this kind of event without a long lens, I miss the 20D with the 70-200mm zoom, on these occasions..

Very interesting from the perspective of how fast she can cycle and take the next picture. I like the blur shot a lot.

I used to go to Central Park and shot the leaders about a mile from the end with my M6. I think the M is a great sports camera. While it does not take long lenses, you can get closer to the action and see what is coming into your frame. Often sports photograph is about what is about to come into your frame.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for the comments. Yeah, those last set of shots were taken close to the end of the race. I was pretty happy with how many I could squeeze off in a burst.

I also like the blur shot and think it is a lot more interesting than your normal, run of the mill, shot of a runner. I know the woman in the shot and will have to get her opinion on whether she likes it or not.
