Leica M8 + collapsible Elmar & Summicron

Originally I decided to take some photos with these Leica legacy lenses in order to help sell them.... but now I'm not sure I want to sell them!

The colours are very subtle and the lenses are not as clinical as modern glass but that lends well to portraits. Interestingly the Elmar renders quite differently to the Summicron - its much sharper.

Seems like you're more fortunate than I, my collapsible Elmar front focuses like mad on digital (but is fine on film).

I'm curious to know which images were made with the Elmar (Elmar-M?) and which with the Summicron.

Did you use a shade on both lenses? Seems to be a lot of veiling flare on some.

Only the first 2 photos were taken with the Elmar - it was also stopped down as I thought that would achieve better sharpness. f5.6 I believe.

No shade was used on either lenses as they didn't come with them. You are correct of course - but I don't necessarily think its all bad - it adds to the character.

Shades will also remove both lenses biggest advantage - size.

The Elmar renders like a dual Range or Rigid. A collapsible is not my favorite. And most are damaged and/or foggy.
