Leica M9 at 25% battery decides to "do nothing?"

where can I find firmware 1.176 . I have an earlier version installed and I am nervous about upgrading to the latest firmware as I use discrete mode and don't want my camera ceasing to operate at 25% battery power.

Thanks in advance.

James

did you guys mean discreet mode?

for the life of me, i was wondering what is this discrete mode. for a moment i thought discrete vs continuous but then we would say single mode.

I ran my battery clear down to 1 percent. The camera continued to work until that was done with. That is actually lower than before the firmware update.

M9-P
Serial 4338nnn
Purchased July 2012
Firmware 1.196

Battery now quits at 25% (didn't with 1.176)
Camera won't let me reinstall 1.176.
Camera won't work with non-genuine batteries.

Picky little *******.

How's this for annoying Chris: I sent mine in to the Leica approved Camera Clinic in Melbourne for the sensor to be cleaned and they installed 1.196 without asking me. Dopes. And when is Leica going to fix this version of the firmware?

The new firmware, and I use the M9, works fine with my after market battery. It will go to almost zero before shutting down. I guess the cameras must be a little different.

My main gripe with 1.196 is the Discreet mode. Ridiculous they don't fix this. The M9-P is an absolute classic camera hobbled by indifferent software.

One note here:

My M8 had serious problems with I guess a component on the main board. The camera would just stop for no reason when the charge went down and the point of stopping just kept getting progressively closer to a full charge.

I sent the camera 3 times to Solms and they couldn't find the issue. Finally, Tony from Popflash immediately verified the problem existed and sent the camera himself to Leica USA who fixed the camera. (THANKS TONY, THANKS LEICA USA!!!)

I suppose such a problem could come from many different places though.
