Dear Leica M9 users, I recently found a full box 'mint' Leica M9-p for US$ 5000, minus the Lightroom upoad. Would you consider this a 'good' price for a second-hand Leica M9-p? The seller provides a one year shop-based warranty. I recently read that Leica may launch an updated version of the M-E with enhanced battery life and a higher resolution screen. Would you wait for that or go for the mint M-9-p? Many thanks for your feedback, Peter

With M9 prices near $3000 that price sounds a bit high to me.

It is not a price I would pay. On the other hand it is a fine camera and the pleasure of use will soon make you forget the financial pain.

Just to clarify....it's an M9-P. Or are median prices lower for this camera?

The price is between $500 and $1000 too high.
At $5000 you are about $600 away from a CPO M240
A "shop warranty" is useless on a digital Leica as the camera should only be serviced by leica if need be.
Given that we are so close to Photokina I would strongly suggest that you wait for a few weeks to see what else you can get from Leica in the $5000 range.
The new announcements will reshuffle prices on the used market.

I do own an M9P and absolutely love it. My local dealer may still have one CPO M9P for $4000

The differences between M9 and P versions are insufficient to justify so high a price.

4K would be about right, maybe.

There is no functional difference between a M9 and M9P. The price differential should not be too much. You could also consider a new ME. The same camera again, with two years factory guaranty. 5450 $ at B and H.

which is what I'll do, especially since it is rumored that an upgraded M-E -with a higher capacity battery and higher screen resolution may be offered in the near future.

If you like the camera and trust the seller then it is a fantastic price.

I trust the seller and I like the camera. And I thought the asking price is too high.
