Does anyone know where I can find a Leica M9 top plate? I tried DAG camera, but they can only source from Leica and its a whopping $800.

Only options really: if one appears on eBay, or try a wanted ad on LUF. Leica does not sell spare parts to private persons, but they will return replaced items when upgrading, so there are used tops around.
