I guess I'm lucky because here in Memphis we have an authorized Leica dealer, Memphis Photo Supply. They're always busy when I go in and the guys are super nice. Before I purchased my Leica I went in and played around with an M4-P, M6 TTL, and an M8. They carry both new and used Leica equipment. I try to make all of my purchases there so that they will stay in business. However, I am guilty of using Freestyle as well. Two places I don't want to go out of business.![]()
I use Freestyle too, but I don't feel guilty about it. They carry things my local (nor any other online stores) have, such as Efke Aura film (my new infatuation.)

Well-known
If it's the Freestyle in Hollywood, CA, they have a penchant for carrying things nobody else ever heard of. They've been there a long time, and seem to have a steady following.
I'm sure that L.A. has some Leica dealers -- Samy's Camera should be a sure bet.
Now, if you want to talk about scarcity, I read the other day that EK is stopping production of Kodachrome -- Something that has been around since about 1936.

Lord of the Dings
Not that I have ever even handled a Leica, new or used -- to get this out of the way from the start.
But it seems to me that in the current market, there can't be many people like you, just about ready to spend thousands on a luxury item. You should have the power!
If I were you, I'd pester every dealer that's half way in my part of the country and see who's serious about getting a new customer. Who knows, they may be able to arrange a demo, put you in touch with someone, whatever. Never hurts to ask. I'd start with the forum sponsors. Good luck!
