I don't see the new Noctilux as being ridiculously priced - well, it is out of my range (and I do already have a 20-year old example) - but there are plenty of people who'll be happy to spend a lot on the right equipment - look at top-end hi-fi for example. Also, at £6k, it's not much more than getting a fancy new or upmarket classic car through a service, or filling up the fuel on a motoryacht, or a nice holiday for two. This is the reality of the market place (despite the credit crunch) and the Noctilux's price in it. It'll also hold onto it's value much more than many other expensive items. I predict it will sell more than the couple of hundred others are forecasting.
