I don't know where to post this. I could not find it posted on RFF. Perhaps most of you consider it unlikely. It certainly seems unlikely as a 2010 Photokina introduction.

What I read into this is a mirrorless system that uses lenses specific to that system, but also has an adapter for 'R' lenses.
Any thoughts, or other 'leaks'?

'There will be no Digital SLR by Leica but
there will be a solution how to use R lenses digitally'
An adaptor to take R lenses in the new 'S' system, effectively cropping your S2 sensor down to FF 35mm?

Only joking...
Steve.

A "digital visoflex" (EVF based) for the M9.

Seems a little far out to me.

i wouldn't put it past the new leica to make the first modular mirrorless camera system. interchangeable sensor, evf, new line of af m-mount lenses (or af r-mount lenses, possibly sold in other lens mounts), adaptor for r-lenses, articulated lcd, hd video...all the stuff you'd never have expected the old leica to do.

A forward looking camera company with very limited resources, seeing the DSLR segment morphing into the mirrorless/large sensor market segment might halt further development of their 35mm sized reflex cameras in order to more wisely invest in the mirrorless future. I do hope that innovation is in their blood, rather than putting something together from the parts bin, or rebranding another companies product. I remain skeptical, but hopeful.

"A "digital visoflex" (EVF based) for the M9." -It's called Live View and comes with M10.

Live view in an updated M9 and combined with an electronic R to M adapter would do the trick.
Requires a software update and a newly developed adapter to move all those R shooters over to a full frame solution for their R lenses. And boost the M9 sales big time. Easy as pie, big sales increase.
Mark my words.

Re-badged GF1.
Could they possibly do this when they still can't even fill orders from last year's announcements?

There is a post somewhere on the net where a Leica rep was asked about this camera and he confirmed that it was ready to go, but that it will be held back until Leica better handle filling existing orders.

That's what I'm thinking too.Re-badged GF1.
*If* as they say there will be a solution for R mount lenses then maybe they are also bringing out an adapter too? And, if they are made by Panasonic then it won't affect Leica's never ending catching up on orders saga.
Who knows?

Re-badged GF1.
Sadly, I think that this may also be the case and how disappointing would that be?
The GF1 is likely to see its successor in the next 6 months and, as much as I like a lot of Panny's stuff, I don't like the process of simply re-badging thier gear with slight aesthetic tweaks and charging through the nose for it.
It would be nice to think that Leica could actually come up with another unique camera, a la Steve Huff's recent predictions, and if geared towards the right market at the right price, Leica could make a killing, expand their little outfit and catch up with their weighty back orders.
However, I'm a realist. GF1.1 on stand by :bang:
I doubt it would be a rebadged GF1... it's too late in the GF1's product cycle for that. Also, didn't Leica say they weren't interested in u 4/3?

no it won't be a re-badged GF1 or any m4/3...
if you look at leica's strategy, their formulation the past recent years has a lot to do with a lot of internal R&D to create their own value.
to a certain extent S2, M8/M9 and X1 is bucking the trend of what most others are doing.
i'm afraid of saying if its full frame, sign me up for one...
m4/3 is kinda 'obsolete' given that most EVIL has taken on APS-C as the standard.
if the new product is APS-C, i would say they are just potentially allowing the cannabalization of x1 sales.
