Hi all,

Just picked up a Mountain Elmar (that I quickly sent off to Youxin for a CLA), but wanted to have some filters ready for B+W work in the coming months.

My understanding is that Leica only produced filters for this lens that attach to the original hood. Is this true?

I have the original hood but it no longer stays on well and I'd like to purchase some thread-in filters, but have failed to find the size online. I suspect that I'll have to have S.K. Grimes make an adapter but wanted to see if anyone else knew more.

My hunch is that it's close to 34mm x 0.50mm pitch or there abouts?

The books say:

36mm push on, to the hood.

24mm and 22mm screw in were made but not listed by Leitz

I'm quoting, although I have had this lens in the past it is a long time ago.

Thanks for this info, I knew about the A36 push-on but not the others. Are you citing Lager or Puts?

I found this photo of a Mountain Elmar on the interweb. There's definitely a screw thread, and scaling from the diameter of the front element I'd say 22mm. The 3.5cm Summaron also takes 22mm filters.

I've got a set of Walz filters (Yellow, Green, Red, Blue, and UV) in a plastic case that is labeled "For Elmar". The outer ring of the filters is 22mm. They also fit the Argus Cintar 50/3.5

I'll have to see if I still have a filter lying around from when I owned that Summaron.
