I am currently using Bessa R3M with a -2 diopter as i'm a bit short-sighted in my right eye. Have been dreaming of a MP for the longest time but haven't taken the plunge.

If i decide to plunge into the deep end of buying a Leica MP, would it be better to get the 0.58 or the 0.72 as i prefer to use my camera without my glasses (my left eye is 'perfect')? If i were to get the 0.58, would i still need to get a diopter? Or am I asking the right questions?😕

If you were seriously going wide I think (just my own PO mind you...) that a Bessa R4 would be a better choice than a 0.58 mag M. You would still need an external VF for the 15mm but the R4 has parallax correction down to 21mm in it's viewfinder. It is a very practical camera that is unique in the RF marketplace.

If the viewfinders a bit small in the .58 models for the 50 frameline, and the .72 is better, how nice is the .85? I'm not a big 28 user, I find I like 35 and 50 the most from all focal lengths, and any wider would be around a 15-25. Is the .85 better for this sort of situation - What I mean is, in this situation is sacrificing the barely used 28mm frameline for the bigger 35 and 50 worth it?

hmm, well if you shoot primarily with the 35, 40 and 28 or 25 FL, then I'd go with the .58 VF. Certainly go with the .72 or higher VF if you shoot the 50 90% of the time. But with the .58 and a 1.25x magnifier, which can be obtained for around 300 loonies, you'd have a great wide to medium FL set up. I think if you shoot from 25 to 50, with a slight emphasis on the 25 to 35 for the most part, the .58 VF and the 1.25x magnifier would be the ultimate M.

buying 2 M bodies.....you will probably go there anyway!!! You can always look for the .58 TTL and upgrade the finder
