Bob Atkins over at Pnet has posted his review of the Leica MP.

I didn't even realize it but we also have a Review section on RFF - folks should check that area out too - I'm going to do so now.
Cheers

a very interesting review.. a bit 'quaint' to those who are already familiar to rangefinders, and Leicas in particular.. but worth the time to read

It's not Bob Atkins' review, it was written by someone else. Back before I abandoned pnet Bob was a frequent poster of sniping anti-Leica troll comments, which was really gross considering he's a moderator on pnet. His "review" of the DMR was expectably negative. This review of the MP is quite positive, though I have a hard time with his comparison to Hasselblad (I've had both, the Blad is definitely not less contrast, and if he had trouble photographing people with it, that is his shortcoming, not the camera. Plus, he makes a bunch of negtive statments about digital based on his 5 megapixel Sony point n shoot.

Good review. I am just surprised by this: "...but the clouded rangefinder patch does become a less-than-transparent reddish color from time to time, so the camera must be sometimes be moved in order to focus..." I don't think I ever had this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

How is he such an expert on Leica VF flare problems when he obviously have not owned a Leica before this MP. Sounds like someone's pulling stuff out just for the sake of making himself seem like he knows more

Review is by Howard Blumenthal, who is just posting his thoughts of using the MP.

I added my comment to the bottom of the review. Now I better read the review.

I have. It is caused by focusing a lense in such a way that your finger blocks the rangefinder window. The reddish brown is the reflection of your finger onto the RF patch. It happened to me twice when I first got into rangefinders. The first time I thought it was the dreaded "flare". When it happened the second time, I realized what I had just done.

Yes, this sounds like a reasonable explantion.
