So it's going to be still 1m closest focusing distance although it has a floating element.
If you want to shoot closer than one meter - I seriously recommend that you use a SLR. You are hitting up against two of the limitations of an RF camera - we don't shoot closer than .7 to 1 meter from the subject and we don't use long telephoto lenses.
Horses for courses.

I am waiting for a "digital CL" with changeable lenses ... for this the new 3,8/24 would make sense!

Me, too, Astrid. That would indeed be quite nice.

I'm glad Leica didnt drop the ball, there was a strong demand for fast wides to go with the crop on the M8, and here they are, Nikon never understood that, and now that they have FX technology they'll probably never figure it out

I will never buy a digital M8 because of the lens conversion factor due to the size of the sensor. For example, when I need the 84 degree angle of view that the 24mm Elmarit ASPH provides, it is retained, of course, on my M6 TTL and I get that angle with that lens's amazing A+ quality when I capture film images. That's simply my point of view and, of course, some others will not concur. Additionally, the M8 is horribly overpriced (my point of view, again).
