Leica price increases apparently have been put on hold. Euro may drop to near equal exchange rate late 2015. Can we expect even lower Leica prices? Can I afford that 50 summilux I'm wishing for?

Great question!
I think it all depends on how price sensitive Leica thinks its goods are so lets all send them a message buy taking advantage of those rebates :)

Dear Denton,

May.

Wanna pretend to be a currency speculator?

Or wanna buy something at what it's worth to you and enjoy using it?

Cheers,

R.

I believe Leica's current rebates are due entirely to oversupply of inventory. Leica has in the past 7-8 years continually raised prices well beyond proportion to exchange rates or inflation, including raising prices on digital cameras well into their product cycle. So I would not put much faith in the hope that dollar-euro parity will necessarily effect Leica's prices.

Currently her in the U.S. there are $250.00 rebates on selected lenses and $750.00 rebates on M-240's.

Last time Leica offered rebates was back in 2007-2008.
