I know what you mean about the 28mm. For me it is a particular challenge as I love short teles like 85s and 105s especially as they do not require me to put my camera into candid subjects' faces. But I persist and keep taking it (my Q) with me so I can try to force myself to learn a new way of working. I guess that is something the same as you.

I liked your subject - in my city, rail is not a major feature (we are mainly a city that relies on buses and the like). But I have been thinking recently about visiting the rail station and taking some metro trips just for the photographic opportunities I may be able to leverage from it. You photo reminded me that I have not yet done it.

It’s a Friends Leica Q I got to shoot with for a day hanging out

Not sure if 28 mm is for Me.., Prefer a 21 over a 28 Me thinks ~
But stellar VF and the MF, AF lightening fast !

well Peter, I like your Q photos but you hardly post with the Q..

it's a tug of war between a Leica Q
and just fell in LOVE with the Hassy X1D & the 45mm ...must decide be rid of all my Leica and be a Hassy gurl... cannot afford both systems

The X1D though heavier in weight feels so Good in the hands, medium format digi seems alluring and well 45 quite cool
Miss Q VF, auto/manual focus stellar and lightening fast
13 years of Leica was rewarding, maybe unto a new Adventure

Thank you Helen. There is no doubt that the Leica Q produces some lovely files. But I am still learning to shoot with the 28mm lens and when I plan to go out in the street (I always have a camera with me) my hand automatically goes to a body I can put a longer lens on unless I stop to rationalize that I will be in a situation where wide angle makes sense. I am still trying to break the habit. If I cannot, then I must steel myself to the possibility of selling the Q. As much as I hate the idea its a camera that is just too good to be sitting at home.

I can see what you mean about the Hassy. It looks like a superb piece of equipment and inline with Hasselblad's reputation I am sure it performs just as well. In fact as I look at the video (link below) it is even giving me the itch. Wow and MF digital camera in this size and format........

I would be interested in seeing your images with it if (when) it arrives. You mention the 45mm lens - what's the 35mm format equivalent filed of view?

I think the medium format 45mm equivalent to 35mm / is 28

35mm equivalent, not 28... Seems the X1D has a 50Mpx sensor measuring 33mm x 44mm. That's similar in dimensions to my Leica S2 sensor (30x45mm). On the S2, the Leica 45mm lens is equivalent to 35mm while the 35mm lens is equivalent to 28mm. I have the Leica 35 but for 45mm I use a Pentax-67 lens adapted. The Hassy could be fun, Helen, and that's a bunch of megapickles... 🙂
Edit: FWIW, the conversion factor is 0.8x, so multiply the medium-format lens by 0.8 to get the equivalent on the smaller camera. For example, a 100mm lens on the Hassy or S2 is equivalent in angle of view to a 80mm on the 35mm camera.

I like the philosophy of fixed lens cameras. The pictures here look great. Basically the lens HAS to be good and the price of the lens is included in the camera. You can't blame the lens if the picture looks looks "just ok". The engineers have to make sure the pictures with the lens given look amazing.

Great job guys, although this camera is way out of my price range.
