Parts are getting a little harder to find for some, I have been told, but both Leica USA and DAG have quoted me for cleaning and lubrication within the past year. Leica USA also offered that they can do the 3-cam upgrade on my 1964 1-cam Summicron 50 as well (although it's not really worth the cost of doing it).

Thanks, Godfrey. The reason I asked about Leica USA was that when I went to the site (which just looks like an English language version of the German one), all they said about repairs was to fill out the forms for sending the gear to Europe. I couldn't find anything for contacting them directly.

If Leica USA can't fix it they send it on to Germany. Saves you the cost of shipping and the hassle of customs.

Not according to the Leica US site. The PDF forms are all addressed to Germany. I did a search last night for Leica Service Centers, and came up with a page that listed all the centers in the US. What was strange is that on the Leica Forum site, there is talk of Allendale, NJ as being the place for sending repair work, but the page list I found does not include Allendale. In fact, there is very little talk about Leica US for repairs, and some of that is questioning do they actually do repairs anymore. Even in the thread asking for recommended repairers, Leica NJ was never mentioned.
What I'm asking for, Mark, is where is the Leica NJ repair facility, and how do I contact them. Simple as that.

For Leica USA, I call 800-222-0118 (or 201-962-9932) and ask for Customer Service or Repairs. I've spoken most often with Mark Brady since Carmen retired. The usual instruction is to document the camera (model, serial number, etc), what is wrong, and your repair request. Then package the camera up and send it to:
Leica Camera, Inc.
Repairs and Service
1 Pearl Court, Unit A
Allendale, NJ 07401
Att: {whomever you talked with or someone they told you to direct the package to}
I've never used any of the forms or sent anything directly to Leica AG in Germany.

Not an R, got one of those too, but when I sent an SL in about two years ago they sent it back saying they no longer serviced them at all.

Sherry Krauter bought the entire lot of parts from Leica N.J. This included parts for M5's and SL's.
I had Sherry build me a SL2-MOT from two donor bodies about two years ago.

Thanks, Godfrey. I'd found the 1-800 number, but had a different one for Allendale (likely the front retail counter). For some reason I'd always thought the repair shop was in Patterson.
I've got a Summarit-R 2.8/28 that the focus has decoupled somehow. It was very tight to start with, so I figure the lubricant seized up, and now the control ring has slipped the slot on the helical.
I hope to never have to send anything off to Wetzlar.

The discussion is about lenses, not bodies. Leica USA closed down most of the Leica reflex body services some time ago as far as I recall. But they'll still servicing the R system lenses.

On a closely related note, where (or whom) do you send a lens for a Refurb / CLA? I know my way around Zeiss quite well, but not Leica. Have picked up 2 Leica lenses and e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y these guys will need a little TLC. Lens work involves some expensive tooling to do it right.... So I'm curious whether anyone's done this and where. THanks!

Here are the two main ones folks around here use:
DAG Camera Parts (note contact info at bottom of his page)
Sherry Krauter.com -- Home of the Golden Touch.

Thanks! Been in touch with DAG on an M6-TTL CLA and viewfinder upgrade. Will see how he does with my baby SIX before we do a lens. Thanks again.

Donald A. Goldberg (DAG : http://www.dagcamera.com) has done work on lenses (repairs, CLA, and recently installing six-bit codes) for me since the late 1980s; I've always been satisfied with the quality of his work. I always send him an email to ask questions and schedule service first, using dagcam@chorus.net. He's usually very responsive and straightforward to deal with, but he does get backed up every so often—if you're in a hurry, it's wise to talk with him first.
