Hi friends....i have a cron90 Apo with some haze in rear elements....looking for some technician at Seattle, any advice?
Regards...

Cameratechs in Ballard. Worked on my Leica's, Rollei's. Great work, fair prices, about a week on a full CLA.

I send my Leica work out of town.

For other brands, I've heard good things about Doug's Camera Clinic.

I would also definitely send a lens like that out of town to someone with lots of experience opening, reassembling and collimating such lenses, and who has all the equipment to do the job right.

I would trust Don Goldberg at DAG Camera Repair (Wisconsin) and John Van Stelten at Focal Point (Colorado). I have used both with great results. If you would like the "feel" of the lens tweaked at all (stiffer, looser, clickier or less clicky aperture ring), Don is very good at that.

When working with Don, I think it is imperative that you call him first to confirm he can take on the work and establish the time frame for completion (also to establish rapport). Send the lens with a cover letter repeating everything you confirmed in the phone call, and call to confirm receipt. Then call again about a week before it's supposed to be ready, and maybe again if necesary. Assume Don does not read his email.

Sage advice from Matt. He knows what he's talking about.

Glazer's will probably send your lens directly to Leica.

Thx. for response Friends......I have had a great experience with DAG, (some lenses and M6), Im the first owner with this Cron 90APO, and since Im gonna spend some days at Seattle Id love to have cleaned that haze during my stay....Ill drop a phone call to Glazer.....
Thx...

Enjoy Seattle!
It's been a wonderful summer here so far.

BTW I would follow the advice above and sen the lens to Focal point for cleaning. They are glass experts!
Nobody is better equipped to handle the actually glass. John turns things around really fast too.

Cheers!

Glazer's sent me to Focal Point, who sent me to CameraTechs, who sent me to DAG. However, my problems were with a lens that needed collimating an an M5 with shutter issues. Special tools needed for both, apparently.
However, I know Focal Point and CameraTechs do lens cleanings easy, and the latter did a fine job collimating my Canon LTM lens. CT's turnaround time was something on the order of 3 days for a full CLA. Ask for Bill, he's a big Leica guy.

Highly recommend Matt & Semilog's advice. Also agree with RichL if you decide not to send it out of town.
