Leica are, apparently, proud to present a limited edition 'Barnack Obama' M8.2 to celebrate the United States' adoption of a decent President. Sounds good!

(warning! tasteless joke ahead!)

I remeber reading a long while ago when Obama and Hilary were duking it out that Obama was half black and half white, so I am guessing the new M8.2 will be a panda version?

Is it just joy at seeing your candidate win, or is it a need to stick your finger in people's eyes who didn't vote for your candidate? Because I'll tell you, I'm not interested in playing silly buggers, so I won't bother replying further to this thread, but I very seriously doubt you'd say that to my face.

Now why don't we move on, hmmm?

The rumour isn't true, for sure. But it would be fine if Leica would make a celebration of that Obama did win the election. It is quite an event in many respects. Not the least to the 'respect' of USA abroad.

A greeting from over here; Obama will indeed be judged by the content of his character and not the colour of his skin. So far it looks very promising.

Nobody here is sticking their political victory up in your face. So, you don't have to 'play a silly bugger' You are one.

Bill, follow your own advice and spit out those sour grapes you're sucking on. Nobody was sticking a finger anywhere, it's just a cute play on words. Why can't it be just that? Why did you have to get all in his face? I didn't vote for the guy either but I'll sure be behind him as he tries to get us out of this mess we're in. If he succeeds, we all will.

I have no problems with anything you said above. I happen to agree.

What I had a problem with was this:

United States' adoption of a decent President

That did not need to be there. That was a thumb in the eye. And I resent the hell out of it. I would have enjoyed the post, laughed at the humor, but it seems certain types can't enjoy their own victory without saying something nasty about the one that is leaving.

It's an historic occasion. It's a memorable occasion. It represents a turning point for our nation in many ways, and I am also excited and looking forward with optimism towards the future (despite my trepidation about some wheels which are already in motion, I'll leave those out, they don't belong here).

So while I'm perfectly willing to do the bipartisan friendship thing, if people can't stop themselves from taking a jab at our former president, then I'm not feeling quite so friendly anymore. Keep the nasty remarks to oneself, or prepare to hear my nasty remarks in kind, is the takeaway here, I think.

The Barack Leica bit was funny. The jab at Bush wasn't. That's all.

Where was the thumb in the eye? George wasn't likely to get back in, was he? He wasn't standing against Barack. I don't understand. Obama seems like a decent bet, doesn't he? What's wrong with calling him decent? I didn't call George Bush indecent, but, respectfully, by implication, you did. The gentleman protests too much....
