'38 Leica Standard. The speed selector knob is a bit out of alignment with the indicator arrow.
I loosened the set screw, took it out even, and the selector knob doesn't loosen or turn either way.
Is it a set screw on top of a set screw? I can't see or feel with the screwdriver if there is another screw down there.
Thank you!

More: I found a cross-section of a 38 Leica IIIx, it seems to show the knob is threaded on the shaft. A little lighter fluid down the SS hole may help.

You'll have to take the set screw out, and to unscrew the speed knob counter-clockwise with a piece of rubber (innertube of a bike). Put it back on its correct place. Good luck.

Erik.

The knob should have been screwed on the shaft.

Early Zorki-1 followed the same design. From 1c or 1d on they canceled it and used 3 set screws instead.

On a I or Standard you could always unscrew the cover beneath the speed dial by a degree or two anti clockwise if this helps align things. It is a simple screw thread.
