I did lots of research before deciding to purchase the 'new' Summarit-M 75mm F2.4 ... I'm not really looking for comparisons with other 75's (Heliar, Summicron APO) but just the ownership experiences from people who already own this lens.

I decided that the price of the Summarit was quite fair given the performance of the glass. Plus, Leica has that price discount until the end of August 2015.

I did a bit of digging around on RFF and found some good posts, but there was a paucity of images on Flickr. I wish I could see more examples of this lens in action.

Of course, the glass is made far better than my abilities as a photographer.

If anyone has any feedback or sample images to post I'd be grateful. All the best!

The lens is small but manageable.

The focusing has a fast twist, and the mechanics are great. Don't love the rubber grip or the outside-threaded hood.

It can be tough to focus at close range (due to a tiny bit of focus shift), but once you get the hang of it, it is fantastic.

Oh, yeah, you'll occasionally goof and look to the 50mm framelines.

Here is a sample wide open and one stopped down to f/5.6.

I had the first version for a couple years.
Beautiful lens.

If you use 75mm with any frequency you will love it.
The 75mm focal length on a rangefinder is difficult to use at apertures faster than f2.5... F2.8.
The Summarit f2.4/75mm seems like a sweet spot for this FL.

True - the 75 Summilux is horrendous to critically focus.

i'm very curious if anyone knows if there are critical differences between this version and the to me pretty recent 2.5 version? was there a general clamor to replace the 2.5 series with 2.4? i hope to be educated on this, but where i stand now i just dont get the point.
