Hello There!
I am in the process of removing some haze from a summitar (later hexagonal aperture blades), i have already taken the haze out of the elements next to the aperture blades successfully, but i am left with a bit between the two most rear elements. I have taken the retaining ring in the back, but the rear element does not seem to want to come out. Is there another one that I need to remove that i am not seeing?
Or is there any guide online on how to take this procedure that i can take a look at?
Thank you in advance for your help!

What stage of disassembly do you have the lens?

It's been a while- I'm looking at the lens tube extracted from the focus mount (of a parts lens). The retaining ring should come out with fine-tip needle nosed pliers or spanner- the slot is recessed. On my coated Summitar, round aperture- the rear group is in a metal fixture and comes out as a unit.

Can you post images of yours?

Kuramuri Nobuyuki "nobbysparrow" states in his (great) booklet "How to Clean Old Leica Lenses and Accessories" on page 8 on the Summitar that more disassembling than the front lenses is hard "since the rear elements are glued together".

FWIW.

The booklet is available on eBay. Very useful.

i have only taken out the outmost ring and the set screw that holds it in place, the rest i have reassembled in order to keep everything tidy, i will leave a couple photos of the lens.

Erik, i really should take a look at that booklet, seems quite interesting and useful

The images on the Link are giving me color whirlies- no image.

So if you have the lens tube out of the focus mount, you should see the rear ring with inset slots. I use fine needle-nosed pliers to extract the rear group from the tube. All comes out in the metal fixture.
