Interesting. These cameras actually share the same 16mp sensor base, if Leica hasn't sourced a new sensor since the X2.

Fuji's Jpeg rendering is as usual impeccable, but there is something to Leica's intepretation that I like - maybe the more neutral tones?

I like Fuji's SOOC jpeg but I can see why people would like the Leica - based, of course, on the one actual comparison photo in that post. The Leica shot seems more "realistic" but one could also say that, compared to the Fuji, it looks "less saturated".

Interesting but given the costs - give me the Fuji every day (even though I don't like the X-Trans sensor).

The funny thing is that I remember the exact same thing with the X1 and X100. When I had the X1 it had those very nuanced OOC colors, and the brighter colors seem artificially toned down - especially the reds.

The X100 on default output was also neutral, but the reds were plenty saturated, and it had really nice green channel output, far better than the X-trans' weird green render.

Colour control is basically a non-issue on cameras that can shoot raw. Also with the mirrorless cameras I find myself tuning the white balance to my liking for every scene because it's easy to do in live view via LCD/EVF. With DSLRs I rarely bothered and relied on doing it in post.

I love Fuji. I love my X-E1. And loved T1 and E2 for the most part, but I really didn't like how human skin (and rather blown highlights) rendered in jpeg even at low ISO on newer Fujis. I don't see that problem from X-E1 jpeg. I'd love to see the comparison of these two with some portrait examples.

So the X-E2 had loose body construction, making creaky noise as I held the grip (and it had quite a bit of damage to the package which made me suspicious) so it went back to Adorama. X-T1 exhibited the light leak (mine fell into the affected s/n range) and went back to Amazon. I was going to get a replacement T1, but Amazon was out of stock.

After evaluating what I needed and how I used the camera, I figured I could go with X-E1. I picked up two of them, ended up just paying $600 total for both, and used it for some work assignments with pretty good results. I must say I much prefer the jpeg output of X-E1 over the newer Fujis although I do miss some features on the newer ones.

Now I do have T1 and 23mm Cron preordered, but still pondering if I should go through with it. Product designer part of me is wanting to trying it out bad. Logical part of me is telling X-E1/2 would be all I need and some more. For now I'm keeping "user" condition X-E1 to be used with my M lenses.
