Hi,
My M6 Classic has recently found itself horribly out of alignment (too much shooting at parties? 😉 I have done focus tests with two lenses and it is focusing a significant distance beyond what the rangefinder thinks. Since I do 90% of my shooting at 2.8 or wider, this is really killing me. I woke up in the middle of the night last week and checked out the moon and it appeared to be aligned although I was quite groggy. I am very hesitant to send my permenant neck fixture away for many weeks. Is there _ANYONE_ in the Seattle area who can do the adjustment? I know DAG & Sherry are champs but I would really rather not ship across the country and wait indefinitely.

Thanks!

Jake,

This guy in just northeast of Northgate http://www.meiersphoto.com/
He repaired a Nikon SLR for me and did a great job. He has some Leica gear that he sells as well. I think he can probably help if you don't need parts.

When I lived in Seattle I had Photo-tronics align my M2 rangefinder twice. They're at 513 Dexter Ave N. now, but were on Westlake when I dealt with them. A pro shop...

I'd advise staying away from Pacific Camera Repair at 5254A University Way NE, in the University District, which is the storefront CameraTechs used to have before their move out to the Ballard district. He's benefitted by folks (like me) walking in by habit expecting to find a camera repair shop there... he's a nice guy but messed up several bits of Pentax gear for me. Not going back there.

CameraTechs does good work, but they seem a little inflexible, and have set prices for CLA for instance that are rather high. They quoted me the standard $250 (IIRC) for a CLA on my Minolta CLE when it only needed the electrical contacts under the shutter dial cleaned again.

Photo below of completed job at CameraTechs... 🙂
