I'm still of the opinion that a better alternative to a low-end digital camera is a low-end film point-and-shoot.

Have you sold off all your film camera's? There is still TriX...you don't like TriXJoe - this isn't about film vs digital - but since you asked, film is a pain in the arse, you can't get the good classic films any more, photolabs have stopped processing film - it's not worth the hassle -- I was simply giving a commentary on this particular camera and what a particular disappointment it is - I'd certainly rather have bought the x-1 or a used rd-1 for the same price range

No! but you said all the classic films are gone...I was just asking a question, sorry I interrupted your day!

Sorry to have upset the apple cart with the dreaded mention of f*lm. Moderators should move this entire thread to the Digital vs F*lm subforum.
But my intention was not to start a religious war; rather, in reference to the comment about the $40 Hello Kitty digicam, I've recently been using a f*lm-based half-frame toy plastic camera from SuperHeadz, whose gelatin-based sensor I believe outperforms that in the Hello Kitty for an equivalent price.
You are correct in referencing the inconvenience of the post-processing aspect of f*lm-based sensors.
