I bought an SL2 recently and inspired by Doug Herr's posts etc I just had to get an SL as well ! I got one of the bay for an amazing £87. I wasn't expecting much but I received a near mint example. I put a battery in and the meter works perfectly. The viewfinder is pristine. I also bought my favorite lens back, 60mm macro-elmarit, I should never have sold the last one. Anyway this SL just pops in and out of focus as does the SL2. I'm well chuffed.
As a comparison I've compared the two to my F and F2 viewfinder's and there is no contest. I reckon the Nikon's are approx a stop darker. I've even fitted H2 screens (full microprism), the standard on Leicaflex is a full microprism screen and they still don't focus as good so the F and F2 are officially retired!

Early days yet but so far it's equal. The SL2 has a more sensitive meter but I prefer the screen in the SL. I may get an SL screen put in the SL2.
I prefer the curved shape back of the SL. Mechanically they feel equal.
I started with R Leica's (R8) as a cheaper alternative to M's for using Leica lenses. I had various R4's and then started using M's. I stupidly sold the lenses 5 years ago but have gradually picked the ones up I like again. 35, 50, 60 and a 90.
Much of my camera choice in the last 2 years has been due to an eyesight problem I have and the SL/SL2 cameras have definately been the easiest to manually focus than anything else I've used.
