Leidolf Lordomat with Schacht-Travenar 3.5/35

Using up the remains of a roll of Ilford XP-4+ after my Indiana trip.

Check, VA is on US-221 between Copper Hill and Floyd in FloydCounty. Not much there but a small gathering of houses, and a Country Store. Oh, and someone planted the waterwheel from a mill in their front yard.

What do you make of the Lordomat? I almost got my hands on one the other day. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info around about them.

I feel like it's a damn fine substitute for a Leica III series, and made in the same town too! It has its quirks, such as the backwards double-stroke winder. The C-35 model has a built-in meter and multi-frame line finder. As far as I can tell, the Schacht-Travenar lenses are first rate, with the same 40.5mm filter size throughout the range. And the cameras have leaf shutters, so there is no curtain burn to worry about, but they max out at 1/300. Film loading is easy since the backs come off, no leader cutting or bottom feeding needed.

I like it. And as far as I know, no one else around has one.

Very nice work. I once had the 35/3.5 Schacht-Travenar in LTM and it's one lens I really regret selling. It performs just as well in color, with blazingly rich contrast and color rendition and excellent sharpness.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I haven't gotten around to shooting it with color film yet, so will have to give it a go sometime.

Looks like a great setup. That winding lever looks crazy, would take some time getting used to.
