Hi,

has anyone any experience with this combination? The Elmar is way easier and cheaper to get then the Voigtlander equivalent. But I ask myself, if the rangefinder will work well with it. With my Russian lenses, exact focussing is impossible, as they are diffenrently "aligned", compared to original voigtlaender lenses.

Thanks for your help!

I like mine, small, light, easy focus and aperture ring. I have never had a problem focusing. I think this image would show if the focusing was off.

My version is uncoated and from 1936. For what it is, it's quite good. Funny thing, I've only used it for B&W and not colour. Will have to try it sometime in colour. Thanks for mentioning it!

You might be very pleased with your uncoated 90mm Elmar using color. Some of my sweetest shots in color were done with my uncoated Summar, especially at near sunset.

I brought my coated 9cm f4 on vacation for use with the Bessa R2. No problems with the focus, everything came out well.

I also have an uncoated Elmar that gives Kodachrome like colors with Print film.

I got a well used but optically very nice '37 uncoated Elmar and like it quite a bit. Well enough, in fact to make me want an uncoated 5cm Elmar.

Thanks for all your help - I am short before buying the lens. Just some silly question: the vendor shows an image of the Elmar UNSCREWED, so that you can see the glass which is INSIDE the lens. Okay, I would never do something like this with my Nikon lenses ... but maybe it's easier to unscrew those old ones? Or is it just very strange, what the guy has done?

It's very easy to unscrew them, and they could be used on a bellows without the focus mount.

It's normal.

I've had several screw-mount 90/4, going back to 1932/33, as well as the collapsible M-mount and the current Makro. I'd back the 90/3.5 Apo-Lanthar (which I own) against any of them except the current Makro.

Sure, they work fine, far better than seems reasonable, especially in colour, where they are very romantic; but in mono, the newer lenses are far, far crisper.

Cheers,

R.
