Leitz Vidon finder for 1f??Why dose it reverse the image?

I have a finder for my 1f which is on its way to me😎 But the finder reverses the image??And when i turn the back optic it turns the image upside down😱

Why did Leitz make such a finder??Or is it defective,,missing optic

It's perfect. Because Leitz wanted the viewfinder small it have only one prism. The VIHOO have two prisms, so the image is perfect. - and it is a lot bigger.

The turn in back is for horizontal/vertical pictures. Don't worry. When you try you will see it's ok and a very practical and efective viewfinder!

I had one of those but i sold it. I couldn't get used to the reversed image. They say you can with practice.

The VIDOM actually has 3 prisms, the later VIOOH(or IMARECT) has 4.
I guess the choice was made between size and what is practical to the user.
Also one less prism surface means the image is somewhat clearer/brighter on the VIDOM. (Though age has made many of both type of finders hazy/cloudy by now)

I agree it takes some getting used to when using the VIDOM, but once you've shot a few rolls you'd hardly notice (until you go back to a normal-orientated one 😉 )

Yes i have been using mine and by now im quite used to it.It helped when i saw the size of the other one😱
