Hi, does anyone know of a repairer who does the Leningrad? Oleg and Eddy don't any longer. Mine works ok mostly but sometimes the shutter release does not fire the shutter - touch the speed dial and off it goes, then it runs ok for a few frames. Thanks

There's a Leningrad (on loan) here too. Broken, non-working. Nothing turns. I won't even think of opening it. So many warnings have been given about doing DIY repairs on this camera, mostly about possible injuries from flying parts. Maybe thats why repairists don't want to mess with them anymore.

That is a bit exaggerated - while the springs on camera clockwork motors store quite a bit of force, they must be quite well contained, so they aren't quite that likely to spring at you. But it usually needs special tools to (dis-) assemble a clockwork motor - repair people won't touch them unless they specialize in them, as it is not profitable to have tools cut for just a camera or two.

I suspect you're pretty much out of luck. It's probably possible to find someone in Petersburg, Kiev or Moscow who can repair it, but as usual one has trouble contacting these people. (I got lucky once when a RFFer in Kiev agreed to take my Kiev-II and give it to a former factory repairman for an overhaul.)
It still won't hurt to write to Oleg if he knows somebody, or to Yuri (Fedka) if his repairman can handle the Leningrad (even through he doesn't list it on his website).

Have you tried Yuri at Fedka.com? I know he does most all FSU's. He is in NY city.

Thanks, folks, I'll try Fedka and I might drop Oleg an email..my motor works ok its just a sticky shutter release. Its a nice machine even if it is a bit heavy...

Another guy you might ask is Leonid Treskunov at TresCam. He doesn't mention it on his site, but on USSRPhoto.com he advertised that he can do service for "any Russian, Ukranian, USSAR made cameras and lenses".
(Disclaimer: I never sent a camera to him for repair and can't say anything for quality. He does seem like a professional though.)

but
but
decided after an exchange in elail that I would send it to Oleg. So its gone today and I anxiously await its return. It is one of the less common models with the name in latin characters..so its probably worth getting it repaired.
