Here is a question for everyone on RFF. What type of lens adapter would you like to have (LTM to M etc), and how much are you willing to pay for it? You can name adapters that are currently in production if you feel that the price is too high or the average quality is too low. Alternatively you can name an adapter that is not produced. The reason I ask is because I work in a machine shop and I'm brainstorming for rainy day projects.
 
I'll be honest with you, that is quite a steal. Unfortunately I can't compete with anything from China. Their labor is subsidized so typically it is cheaper than the cost of the steel itself. Come to think of it, their material is probably subsidized too. What you pay for a product from China doesn't always reflect the actual cost to produce it. Its kind of a Walmart-esc tactic.

Edit: This will seem odd since the post was deleted before I finished my reply. In a nutshell, he had a $10 dollar LTM to M adapter form HK.
 
i just got an LTM to M (50/75) from HK and for $10. not all the 50/75 framelines appear when i lock it in on the M2. however, it works well with the MP.

sorry about that. i had to recheck my data. anyway, i agree with you that it was quite a steal ... no right to complain.
 
On eBay, you will see an incredible array of adapters for all kinds of things. Most are decent quality and very cheap and from China. You mentioned a LTM to M for $10. I needed one 20 years ago, and the only option was a used leica one (not cheap). Then other manufacturers started making them like CV for about half of what my used one was, and now they are no-brand for $10. Your shop probably will not compete on price.

There are so many mount types out there, that there are bound to be combinations that have not been produced. If you can come up with something unique, it will surely be worthwhile for someone. I don't have any adaptor needs. There are lots of great and unusual lenses out there for little used camera systems that could be used more modern bodies. Visoflex lenses come to mind. The system was a minefield of connectors that are not so easy to find now. Those lenses would work well on an slr or on something digital.
 
Joe, what comes to mind is an adapter to use Pentax 645 lenses on the new Leica S2 dSLR. I emailed a Korean maker of Hasselblad-to-S2 adapters to see if a P645-to-S2 one was on the horizon... nope. So there ya go, for the person who can afford to spend $23k on a camera body but who wants/needs to go cheap on the lenses... 🙄 This would clearly be a low-volume high-priced item, likely suitable product for a custom shop.
