Hi, I just received a couple of LTM to M adapters to use my silver CV35/2.5 and Nokton on my R2 (and maybe a few FSU lenses). I notice that the metalwork which is exposed to the film (the rf cam, lens end and some of the adapter ring) is quite significant.
I wonder if this can cause unwanted effects on the images. Anyone got experience of this?

Dave..............

You are talking about internal componants, I take it. Yes, they can contribute to flare, but not in a significant way. You may find those surfaces are not in the optical path. So any light striking them would be reflected from the film during the exposure. The amount of relected light is small and the light reflected back from those surfaces is even smaller. In comparison to the exposure, the flare would be insignificant.

never had a problem with my leitz redscale elmar on my bessa r2a in which I use a voigtlander adapter to mount the lens. I tend to agree that there are so many more numerous problems to worry about with reflections before you get to an adapter that isnt in the way of the light going into the camera

If you want then degrease exposed surfaces with Zippo or C2H5OH, and apply single coat of acrylic black board paint.

Then if it chips you run the risk of pint chips, in camera. I somethimes do this if there looks to be a big risk.

Thanks, I had tried a "permanent" black marker to colour these bits in, but it wasn't .....er......permanent. I think that some-one mentioned etching primer in a post long ago, but before I tried to fix this, I thought that I should establish that there is a problem at all, by asking you all.

Dave........

The primer works on bare metal?

I tend to paint the rear of the FSU 3.5 collapsibles as the acrylic is blacker than the FSU origional.

Well, yes, at least I think so. I imagine that is what primer does. I guess that being etched, it sticks like......... like it's etched!😉 I can only find it in quantities suitable for painting a car, so not for me, yet. i could try the blackboard paint, at least on surfaces not in contact with the rf cam.
