Any pointers on where I can get a mint 'as new' one of these? My new lens arrived this morning and although described as mint, the lens cosmetics and particularly the cap aren't. The lens I can live with but the metal, Leica branded lens cap looks bloody awful. I'd prefer an original one if possible but would settle for a repro as long as it's felt lined like the OE.

Any recommendations for non abrasive techniques for cleaning chrome metal surfaces would also be appreciated - the lens is not exactly clean either. Is there anything at all that can be done with bright marks?

I'm keeping it though as the optics are perfect as described and the lens is still bloody good considering its age.... If only he had said mint -... :bang:

Thanks

Martin

PS. Does the lens cap have its own Leica serial number?

The origionals are real expensive, and you need a hood which is similarly $, the hood comes with a cap astro for a bit of plastic.
All the user parts had a serial number but only some were engraved, the hood has an engraved part number.

Paid £235 GBP and it's an M mount. I'm still happy with the deal I got to be honest and it is difficult to say what a fifty year old 'mint' lens should like like in my opinion.

Maybe mint should be completely as new and unmarked to avoid confusion...

I've an ITOOY in decent nick on its way.
