lens choice for new RD1S

hello. i have just ordered an RD1S from Matsuiyastore and expect it in a week or so. there will be customs and duty to pay but i feel i have made a good choice for a digital alternative to my Bessa cameras. i have the R4M, R2A and T and my lenses are the CV 21/4, 28/1.9, 35/1.2, 40/1.4 and 90/3.5. and i have just ordered the 15 Heliar w/21VF. knowing the Heliar 15 is made for the M8 and therefore sits happily on the RD1S i am confident the lens will be dedicated and successful. but of the others i wonder if anyone has experience with any of the lenses i have mentioned not being successful with the RD1S? i am only curious for information while i wait. and i am sure i will try each out to see what the "adjusted" focal lengths will be like on the Epson. but i am curious to know if any of the lenses are especially non-performers?

wow! spyderman. what a find. and what a fantastic article! all my questions answered and with many of the lenses i use. i do not expect to use the 90 much on this but i do like it for film on the R2A. the 15/4.5 looked a bit soft, i thought, and i may be disappointed in its performance. but i won't base my judgements on the article alone, however i will use it as a guide for comparisons when i do some tests on my own. i am coming from a traditional film background of the last 40+ years and only working in the digital field for the last few. i hope the RD1S will be a great backup camera for my film assortment and the lens interchangeability will be very handy indeed.

IN my case since I love to do portraits I bought a 50mm Summicron... for everything else, I go with the 35mm CV PII. Cheers and enjoy your camera!

My kit matches pretty much yours :

21 4 CV
28 1.9 CV Ultron
35 2.5 CV PII
50 1.5 Jupiter 3
90 4 Elmar
135 Jupiter.

Thinking about the CV 12mm at some point. Only the 135 does not get much use. I am able to focus it quite some accuracy but takes time to get used to the 50mm framelines. I use the patch as reference. I love the Jupiter though focus is bit off, but I learned to compensate.
I also recommend strongly the 35 CV PII. Sharp and contrasty and as you already have low light needs covered, it could be a nice addition.
