Lens compatibility: ZF to ZK

Hi everyone.
I own two Zeiss T* planar lenses, a 1.7/50 and a 2.8/28.
They are completely manual and they fit nicely my old Yashica Fx-3 Super2000. They have a bajonet mount type, I believe it's called ZF but I am not sure about it.

Now, I recently bought a Pentax K200D camera and I erroneously thought I could mount my old zeiss objectives on it. I cannot.

Do you know if it is possible to fit a ZF lens in a ZK body? I could not find any adapter on ebay. (plenty for M42, though).

Hi.

I do not think your lenses will fit. The Contax/Yashica (C/Y) mount is not the same as ZF or ZK. ZK is for the Pentax mount. ZF is for Nikon. I think a ZK mount will fit on a Contax/Yashica but not vise versa.

C/Y lenses will fit on digital 4/3 mount cameras (Olympus, Panasonic and some Leica "D" cameras) and will also fit on Canon digital EOS cameras with adapters

I have Zeiss C/Y lenses and they work great on Canon digital with the proper adapter.

BTW - the two Contax lenses you own are great lenses. I have these two as well, and absolutely love the planar 50/1.7 on my Canon!

Actually one of the reason of buying the K200D was that I thought those lenses would fit. Shame on me.

What if I find a C/Y -> M42 and then use the M42 -> ZK ?
If I remember correctly the distance between the CCD and the lens is usually shorter than the one btw lens and 35mm film in regular camera. Therefore I would think I still have some room to fill with adapters between the body and the objective and still be able to focus to infinite.

I think you'll never find one...There was a reason to place m42 lenses to different bodies but not vice versa. I had the same idea 5 years ago and was treated as a "mad professor" at the shop I dropped into and asked for one of the kind 😀

I found instruction on how to manually convert Y/C to M42. It involves some hacking and a donor M42 screw.
Other people seem to go even further and modify the camera itself. Not sure I want to do that, at least not on a brand new camera. Unless I could find some spare body mount to test first.

It would be a lot of work to hack the lens into a m42 mount and adapt to a K mount.

Is your DSLR a recent purchase? Maybe you can exchange it for a Canon or Olympus. Be aware though: you would have to use stop down metering.

Another, more expensive, option is to sell your C/Y lenses and buy ZK lenses that fit your Pentax. One big advantage to doing this is that ZK lenses are made for Pentax you don't need to use stop down metering. It would be a much better fit.

Contax to EOS = yes

Contax to FD mount - maybe, but tolerances are very tight and you will be lucky to find an adapter.

Maybe not a reply, but a lens-related question, anyway.

I have access to a Leica III(c, I think) body, and I also have a boatload of LTM Russian lenses (50 and 35mm focal lengths). Will these match up OK with the rangefinder cam on the Leica body, or will they wreak havoc on the Leica?

If the lenses mount on your Yashica they aren't ZF - ZF is for the nikon F mount. ZF - Nikon F, ZK - Pentax K, ZM - Leica M and so forth.
