Hi guys,

I have some lenses here (ex. canon FD 55mm f1.2, oly 1.2) which I want to convert to canon mount (and M mount for the .95). I had explored the net regarding the process however they always mention bout the registry distance (ex. 44mm for canon) which I can't understand ( how do I measure the registry distance? Is it from the rear glass of the lens and the tip of the mount?).

And lastly, do you have any recommended tools for the conversion? (other than the mount adapters which I'll purchase from ebay).

The adapters will take care of the differences in back focus. Assuming that you can find them. I have used the adapter which Canon made for mounting FL and FD lenses on Leica screw bodies (same as Canon screw mount RF cameras), or on M bodies with an M adapter ring added. Never heard of any adapters for Zuiko lenses.

Do you mean convert the FD lens to Canon's modern EF mount? Most of those can't be done and retain infinity focus even with considerable modification, it's just not physically possible (otherwise, they'd be more expensive). The Olympus, on the other hand, can be used with a simple adapter, I've got a Zuiko 55mm f/1.2 on its way right now that I'm planning to use on my 5D. As far as registry distances those figures are widely available on the internet, there's no need to measure yourself.

Your post isn't really clear, are you talking about converting a Canon 50mm f/.95 to M-mount? If it is the rangefinder version you might be able to do it yourself, if it's the TV you'll have to send it to a professional if you want RF coupling.
