lens for Fed 2

hello, i have a fed 1 with a collapsing 50mm and a fed 2 with a jupiter 8; also have a jupiter 11.

i want to buy an industar 26 and industar 61, visually i like the black and white version of the industar, not the l/d version, which is black.

should i buy both lenses?
is there much difference between the 61 and 61l/d?

prices are 15 euros each.

You already have two excellent combinations. What makes you want more. Shoot a while and decide if you need to be concerned about coated lenses etc.. Just check the lens specs. Try Fedka.com.

The industar 61/LD is made of lantham glass. It's a good lens & quite sharp. Has click stops which I like.

Get a Jupiter 12, it's hands down my favourite russian LTM lens.

I don't see the point of more 50mm lenses unless the ones you have are in some way unsatisfactory. I agree that the Jupiter-12 is an excellent lens.

I'll second a Jupiter 12, if you want a wide-angle. As for the Industar 26/61, the black I-61/LD is marginally the best, very little to choose over the "panda" version. The I-26 is said by some to flare easily, something I've not especially found myself. The I-61 has click-stops and so do some of the later I-26s.

I wouldn't try the other lenses on the FED 1, it's an old one and almost certainly has non-standard lens-to-film registration. The lens on those was removable but matched to the camera originally. Mine won't even mount most other lenses, the thread is slightly different.

I'd agree with the build quality being better on the "panda" versions. The L/D I'd say is marginally more contrasty but the late ones were poorly made. Early ones are almost as good as the "panda" ones, engraved markings etc.

One thing I have noticed though is that they invariably need a re-lube! That's true for all the I-26 and I-61 examples I've ever had (a few!).

I would second the J12 - one of the sharpest and most well built FSU lenses I have ever used. Prices have gone a bit crazy, hard to get for under 40£ + P&P.Still cheap compared to a Summaron though...

All I-61 lenses are made with lantham glass whether marked "LD" or not. I second all the praise for the J-12.
