Does the lens head unscrew from the focusing mount to be used on a Visoflex type device on the E34 version (2nd) of this lens? If so will it mount on Visoflex or are the threads different?

Can't give you a definitive answer. On the 135's it is only the all-chrome version of the lens that unscrews. I don't know what version of the lens you call E34, but I have a type 3, using Peter Kitchingman's definitive website. That lens does not appear to unscrew. I have the adapters for the 85 and the 135, but have never seen the one for the 100. I'd assume they are quite scarce/rare.

I've never seen any sign of Canon going into the level of esoterica for their mirror box that Leica did for the Visoflex. Thread size and register are way different from a Elmar 90/4 or Hektor 135/4.5, so it's not going to fit the Leica Visoflex adapters.

OK, I guess I don't play with some of my toys often enough. The chrome Canon 85/1.9, 100/4 and 135/4 had a lens head that unscrewed. They made an adapter, the RA, that enabled those lenses to be used with the Canonflex cameras. That was Canon's first group of SLR's. The RA is basically a focusing mount that attaches to the camera. The adapters screw into that, and the lens into the adapter. It was a transitional item, and had nothing to do with the Visoflex-like Mirror box.

With this in mind, I would guess the lenses would have dimensions that would not fit properly on anything else, especially a competitive product. This was part of the lens design/manufacturing process that made the lens head seperate.

Interesting idea, but I doubt it would come to anything.
