It certainly is a collector's market. Such items seem to flourish. Someone offered me $400 for my 35mm Brightline viewfinder.

Raid,

Did you read the description? This is a SUPERIOR lens hood. It obviously blocks out more harmful rays than your every day, run-of-the-mill lens hood.

Some people have the money to spend on such items. I doesn't hurt me, except when I really "need" some item and I find it too expensive due to collectors paying large amounts of money.

I'll pay 70 bucks for a good condition black FISON hood 🙂

Rich, you keep that up and you'll drive prices even higher that the ridiculous amounts we see now. 😉

I'm with Raid on the unbelieveable prices and I think the only reason Leica doesn't make some of the more rare hood models again is to not hurt collectors who have paid huge sums for them. Leitz/Leica have always been sensitive to their collectors.

This afternoon I found that a certain Leica store in Washington state sells the 12536 hood for the Elmarit 28/f2.8 for $249... used.

I got a spare for $37 on not-so-evilBay... I guess I was lucky!

Of course, I should add it wasn't mint! 🙂

When I bought my M3 system from someone local, it came along with many mintish pieces. This included the mint 35mm original Brightline finder that seems to be a collector's item when being mint. I have a feeling its value will increase above $400. I did not pay any extra money for it.
