I have some questions about a lens that I recently obtained and thought I would run it by the experts here.

The lens appears to be an Industar 26m 52mm/f2.8 much like many I can find pictures of on the internet, however all of the lenses that I have seen stop down to f22 and mine only stops to f16.

This lens also has click stop detents on the apature ring, whereas most of the descriptions of this lens I have read state these are lacking.

Lens is aluminum body sn 6655144 has fed logo on front along with N-26m and 2.8/55.

Thanks for any information you may be able to provide.

Here are some pictures. I wonder if this is a legitimate FED lens or just somthing built up out of parts.

Looks exacly the same as my I-26 from my FED 3a - but that goes to f/22 and does not have click-stops - interesting! I thought only the I-61 and I-61 L/D had click stops. You just never know with the soviets!

For sure, you never know about FSUs... part of the charm, but sometimes frustrating. 😉 Two words seldom seen when describing various models - "never" and "always." ha!

Mine is '67, FED insignia, no clicks, goes to f22 and has a red letter added. I faintly recall [maybe?] this red "L" distinguishes the type of glass, "lanthanum." I think .. or not. Am I close? 😱 Either that, or it's the mark for "REJECT! Send to scrap!" *joke*

P.S. freightpilot, welcome to RFF!

😀 that letter in cyrillic is not L it is P and it mean that lens is coated.
and yes - welcome to RFF.
