lens mounts crooked

After mounting the CV 15mm + LTM to M adapter, this is what I ended up with. Should the lens continue to rotate until orientation dot is on the top?

Are you using a Leitz adapter or is it a Cosina/Voigtlander one? Try another adapter.

Using a Leitz adapter for 35/90 framelines. I didn't think that would make any difference. How would a different adapter change things?

My LTM adapter locked exactly like yours. My Jupiter lens threaded on past the centre alignment point. I do not believe the lenses will align perfectly up and down, because of the nature of threads. I am very new to this myself? 😕

There will be no negative effect on the pictures. There was a thread a while ago about rotating the lens's mount so that It would line up vertically.

would a different adapter resolve this issue? If so, then I don't understand how adapters for the exact same lens mount could lead to variable rotations of the lens.

rotating the lens' mount? what does that mean?

Try to find that thread. It involves removing some screws at the back of the lens that orient (rotationally) the lens mount. I'm not suggesting that you should do this. There is no negative affect on the negatives.

my coll. summicron with leitz adaptor goes past the mid point/L seal marking of my M3, no worry.

You can remove the screw mount and put it on oriented differently, I've described the procedure (including a couple of pictures) for a comparable CV25/4 lens here:

Coarse adjustment is in quarter turns, fine adjustment in amounts approximately equal to a step on the DOF scale..
