My LTM adapter locked exactly like yours. My Jupiter lens threaded on past the centre alignment point. I do not believe the lenses will align perfectly up and down, because of the nature of threads. I am very new to this myself? 😕
would a different adapter resolve this issue? If so, then I don't understand how adapters for the exact same lens mount could lead to variable rotations of the lens.
Try to find that thread. It involves removing some screws at the back of the lens that orient (rotationally) the lens mount. I'm not suggesting that you should do this. There is no negative affect on the negatives.

Coarse adjustment is in quarter turns, fine adjustment in amounts approximately equal to a step on the DOF scale..
