I have spend most of my life photographing with Nikon stuff and even if Nikon loves a lot of abbrevations when naming lenses (ED, G, DX, VR, VR2, AFS etc and so on) the basic naming standards is pretty straight forward with the Nikkor basic name and the odd groups of lenses like the Nikon Series E etc....
.... but when now exploring a little bit of the Voigtlander world with my Bessa R2s the names are much different.... Right now I have a 21 mm Scopar and a 50 mm Heliar and surfing around here there are many other names used...
Is there a standard or logic to this and where does it come from !??
