Lens Packaging and Shipment

I've recently found a few lenses on eBay that are going for a good price, but the seller states that no lens caps (front or rear) are included.

Does anyone here have experience buying lenses without caps? I'm worried about the damage that could happen to the glass during shipment. When buying without caps, do you give special packaging instructions to the seller?

I've bought without caps, I ofcourse ask them to wrap in a lot of bubble paper and a plastic bag (first) and than in a box.

yes, what chabrenoire said: "...wrap in a lot of bubble paper and a plastic bag (first) and than in a box". And fill the box with foam peanuts on all sides of the bubble wrapped lens.

I agree with them! I recently shipped some lenses wrapped that way and they got there just fine.
