Lens pouches: small rf lenses

for finders i have found small, leather coin purses to be perfect.
i have bought some locally at craft fairs and on ebay from china, cheap and cheerful.

Thanks -- those look nice -- even I might be able to make some. The ability to tailor the size to the item w/o going store to store is very alluring.
Wondering about the chamois -- no issues with mold, fungus, etc?

With leather you always run fungus risk. Just don't store your lenses in the bags for years without taking them out. The best enemy of fungus is light. The original Leica case for the googles is leather too, only it costs > US 100 used.

On the other hand, you could use a different material, like Neopren or so. Easier to sow, too.

I keep my CV 21mm finder in a jewellery ring box. I stripped out the original lining, and cut two pieces of camp foam to size and shape and glued one into the lid and the other, with its center cut out to the shape of the finder, glued into the bottom of the case.
The finder rests in the cut out well in the bottom foam piece, which keeps it from getting banged around inside my camera bag.
Cheap, cheerful and works very well.

This is nice but slightly pricey: made for 3 Pentax Limited (small pancake) lenses, it could work for most RF lenses. It has a compartment for each lens.

iPod socks... They come in three packs and are pretty stretchy... They aren't thick but should protect your lenses except for major hard impact... Added bonus is that they are different colors for organization

I see, in fact by "spectacle case" google doesn't find what I meant.
Try the (half german-half french) expression "Brillenetui".

In my experience, the hard "CHIEMSEE" Brillenetuis are élégant and useful.

Great idea! I'm going to give it a try. A pink sock for 35mm and a bright green sock for 50mm lenses.

It's not hard, and not soft - it's stiff. Good protection, but there's some give to it, so I wouldn't try standing on it. 🙂

I am taking a menswear sewing class at FIT. Like a gear head that I am, I ended up buying a new comercial sewing machine (Juki), and last Saturday found out that I can sew through two layers of thick leather with an 18 guage needle on my rig.

Now I'm inspired because I need some lens pouches and a VF pouch. I use a Nikon leather pouch with a drawstring for my 75 Lux, but added a thick leather sleeve for additional padding.

I'm thinking of visiting the garment district to buy some silk to make a pouch, but I will use a removable leather cylinder for added protection.

My Juki is powered by a half horsepower motor BTW.

Just what an artist needs: more projects.
