Lens protection on my 2.8 F

I am the proud owner of a whiteface 2.8F with a pristine Xenotar lens.

With my other camera gear I have preferred to keep a protective UV filter on at all times to protect the glass.

I ordered 2 B&W Bay III UV filters for my Rolleiflex

I now see that the lenses are too close to each other for both lenses to wear these filters. I can have one on, but not both

Does anyone know if the Rollie UV filters, which I can pick up second hand can be on both lenses at the same time ?.. I have a lens hood for the "taking" lens and I have a folding lens cap..

I was hoping to protect both the lenses

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated,,

Well, to begin with, I see no point in putting a filter on your viewing lens. Secondly, these lenses are not top flare resistant, so putting the filters on should be viewed as an option of last resort, as you are likely to multiply the flare and reflection problems. I only put colour filters for B&W on my Rolleis when strictly needed. A lens hood instead is useful both to cut down the reflections and to protect the lens.

I use a Rollei hinged lens cap when the camera is not in use as it protects both lenses. In use, I second the use of a lens hood on the taking lens only.

Third the recommendation of a lens hood if you want to protect the taking lens. Plus of course the cap when the camera is not being used.

It's not easy to scratch the lenses anyway because of the filter rims, I've certainly never managed to do it and I'm clumsy.

Another vote for hood and cap. All filters, even those of the best quality, lead to degradation of the image.

Lens hood, cap when not in use.... the filter is overkill and unnecessary.
