Is there anyone in the US doing recementing of lens elements with separation? I’ve been desperate to find someone to fix my 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH that has some separation in the rear glass. I essentially need the rear doublet (hopefully that’s the right term) fully separated completely, recentered, and recemented but so far I’ve found little to no information on where to do this. This is not something I’d like to attempt myself, though I know others like SK Grimes has posted instructional as to how one might attempt this. Additionally, I‘ve used Focal Point in the past and even dropped a lens off to him personally years ago when I lived in Denver and he did wonderful work. From what I understand, he has retired in 2018, losing a valuable resource for this service.
Does anyone know anyone doing this kind of work in the US in 2020? Out of desperation, I have tried reaching out to Kanto Camera a number of times in the last few weeks but haven’t gotten any return response, but to be honest, if I can get this done in the states, it’d be quite a bit less hassle.
Thanks to anyone with info and perhaps this can be a running thread of sources for the future.
