Lens spanner wrenches

Look for hidden set screws holding the front namering on before forcing off with a Spanner. First hand knowledge with a wartime Sonnar. Pre-war, no set screw. Wartime- must remove the barrel from focus mount. Same with rear group.

Post some photos. I use a rubber ring to remove the namerings from the modern Voigtlander lenses. Same is true of several 1960s~1980s manual focus Japanese lenses. I do not have the 58/1.4 Minolta.

I looked doubly hard at the lens and my other one. No set screws or 'divit's' in the name ring on either of them.
I'd post some photo's but everything is 'put away' as my wife is getting ready for a big baby shower she's throwing for our niece. Can't have that 'stuff' laying about on the living room coffee table now can we?

Thought I should follow up on this thread.
After waiting a week for screw drivers to be delivered I was able to get into the backside of the lens today.
Sure glad I knew about the small ball bearing in there as I would have missed it for sure. Tiniest one I've ever seen, bar none.
Got things cleaned up and re-lubed sorta and all is working fine now. It's a keeper in my book, even if I already have one.
